Jugs Jugueta Q&A: On Being A Guitarist…

By mr_kayt On November 9, 2007 4 Comments

jugs Jugueta

What inspired you to pick up the guitar in the first place?

I’ve always liked music ever since… But when I was young, I preferred the piano more. Rock music changed that. GnR, Aerosmith, Nirvana, Grunge and early 90’s “Alternative” music.

What’s your main guitar these days? And what does your main guitar do best?

I’ve been using my Fender Jagstang and Epiphone Les Paul Jr. a lot these days. I like to use (and collect) weird guitars. You get a unique sound and a unique look.

Which was the first record you bought with your own money?

Cassette tapes of Aerosmith’s Get A Grip, Eraserheads’ Ultraelectromagneticpop!, Introvoys’ Back To The Roots

Which was the last record you bought with your own money?

Pupil’s Wildlife, Bagetsafonik’s Travelogue, Prank Sinatra’s Footlong Players and Rivermaya’s Bagong Liwanag.

What was the first (guitar) solo you learned from a record — and can you still play it?

Probably the solo in Come Together. Yeah, it’s easy lang! J

Which recording of your own are you most proud of, and why?

The demos that we make at jazz’s home studio. There’s something magical about a raw demo. Also, we’re more relaxed and more experimental when we’re in our own studio; where we aren’t thinking about studio time / the budget.

Itchyworms’ Gear

By mr_kayt On October 25, 2007 1 Comment

With Itchyworms’ new slick website, you’ll find many infos about the band and the boys. Information about their gig schedules and their music is just a click away! There are news and the pictures section where you can see the band having fun.

If you’ve been in their old website, you’ll surely notice the “Gear” section where they listed each of their musical ammo. It’s very unfortunate that those are not included in the new website.

Well, hey here’s some good news! I managed to save the page and have post it here! Here they are:

Pinoy Bands::The Legends, The Contemporaries, The Classics

By mr_kayt On July 9, 2007 4 Comments

The Legends, The Contemporary and The Classics. That’s how I can see Filipino Rock bands.

We are currently enjoying pinoy bands’ popularity for the nth times! Who knows?! I’ve only been around a couple of decades. But I do know the band revolution during my days before these current, contemporaries pinoy band came to be.

I could probably rewrite the pinoy rock article in wikipedia so I can describe to you the generations we undergone during the past decades with respect to filipino local band music. But I wont. So let me just enumerate the bands that I think should be in the Classics, Legends and Contemporary classifications.

Here is what I think should be in the Classics section:

The Legends should be those who will always be remembered when Pinoy Rock is in discussion:

  • Juan dela Cruz
  • Mike Hanopol / Pepe Smith
  • The Dawn
  • The Eraserheads

Contemporaries are those bands listed on the sidebar… :-)

Sorry for the post guys, I really just to share something… :-)

Rak en Rol! :)
