Howlin Dave, Dies at 52
The popular DJ, whose real name was Dante David, host of the radio program “Pinoy Rock ‘n’ Rhythm” on RJ —and who was the son of 1960s radio personality Uncle Nick of ABS-CBN’S dzXL—died from a stroke May 26, 2008.
Inquirer Entertainment writes, “He reportedly collapsed at home on Saturday and was rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City. He was only 52, but had been suffering from a host of ailments, including diabetes and hypertension.”
Honestly, me being as young as late 20s, I heard the name “Howlin’ Dave” more than a few times, but I never knew he had such a big contribution on Pinoy Rock.
I didn’t know he tirelessly promoted the music of The Juan de la Cruz Band, Anak Bayan, Sampaguita, and others.
With such contribution on Philippine music and pinoy bands, there was a tribute held for him.
You can read all about it online on Manila Standard Today’s website by Jojo Roble.. (thanks for introducing the Man behind the making of PInoy rock).
And for Howlin’ Dave, RIP sir!
