What inspired you to pick up the guitar in the first place?

I’ve always liked music ever since… But when I was young, I preferred the piano more. Rock music changed that. GnR, Aerosmith, Nirvana, Grunge and early 90’s “Alternative” music.

What’s your main guitar these days? And what does your main guitar do best?

I’ve been using my Fender Jagstang and Epiphone Les Paul Jr. a lot these days. I like to use (and collect) weird guitars. You get a unique sound and a unique look.

Which was the first record you bought with your own money?

Cassette tapes of Aerosmith’s Get A Grip, Eraserheads’ Ultraelectromagneticpop!, Introvoys’ Back To The Roots

Which was the last record you bought with your own money?

Pupil’s Wildlife, Bagetsafonik’s Travelogue, Prank Sinatra’s Footlong Players and Rivermaya’s Bagong Liwanag.

What was the first (guitar) solo you learned from a record — and can you still play it?

Probably the solo in Come Together. Yeah, it’s easy lang! J

Which recording of your own are you most proud of, and why?

The demos that we make at jazz’s home studio. There’s something magical about a raw demo. Also, we’re more relaxed and more experimental when we’re in our own studio; where we aren’t thinking about studio time / the budget.

What’s the difference between playing live and playing in a studio?

In live gigs, you get the energy from the crowd. In the studio, you get the energy from your bandmates, the producer(s), and the sound engineer.

What’s the difference between a good gig and a bad gig?

A bad gig is a bad sound system plus a bored crowd.

What’s the difference between a good guitar and a bad guitar?

A good guitar is a work of art. A bad one is a work of crap.

You play electric and acoustic, right? If yes, do you approach the two differently?

Yes. Of course. Especially the nylon acoustic guitar.

Do you sound more like yourself on electric or acoustic? :-)

It depends on the mood. Sometimes, I feel at home rocking out. Sometimes, I jut want to gently pluck my acoustic guitar. A little bit of both, probably.

Do you sound like yourself on other people’s guitars? :-)

It’s like wearing other people’s underwear, or swimming with socks.

Which living artist (music, or other arts) would you like to collaborate with?

Sharon Cuneta

What dead artist would you like to have collaborated with?

Levi Celerio

Finally, what’s your latest project about?

We’re still writing new stuff for the next album (yes, we’re taking our sweet time)…

We have a new project with Pringles and Myx, and we’re also cooking something up again with SMB.
